| The First generation Toyota Harrier was produced from 1998 to 2000. The first generation of Toyota Harrier was available in different codename such as SXU10, MCU10, SXU15 and MCU 15 In 1997. The SXU 10 and MCU 10 models were front wheel drive models while SXU15 and MCU15 were all wheel drive models. Two types of engines were used for the Toyota Harrier. A 2.2 L engine was used in SXU10 and SXU15 which produced 140 horsepower while a 3.0 L V6 an engine was used in MCU10 and MCU15 which produced 220 horsepower. All four models had a 4-speed automatic transmission. Later, the Lexus RX300 debuted in March 1998 and was powered by a 3.0 L V6, which was also used in the Toyota Harrier. The first generation Toyota Harrier was a success and became popular in Japan. Toyota introduced a 2.4 L engine producing 160 horsepower in 2000 which replaced the 2.2 L version. The Toyota Harrier was updated for its 2001 model. The Toyota Harrier was featured with more options including a navigation system. | |||

| Toyota Harrier?s Second generation was produced from 2003 to 2009. The second generation Toyota Harrier was introduced with model names of ACU30 and MCU30 which had the front wheel drive while the models ACU35 and MCU35 were all wheel drive models. The mechanical specifications were very similar to the first generation. The difference was the 3.0 L V6 engine had a 5-speed automatic transmission and this only this model had “AIRS” air suspension. This generation?s Toyota Harrier Hybrid improved in fuel economy and it produced lower emissions as well as greater power. Air suspension (“AIRS”) was also an option on the Hybrid version. The second generation Toyota Harrier had features like TV/Navigation with a backing up camera, cruise control, DVD player, eight airbags, rain sensing wipers, and sunroof. Toyota Harrier was powered by a new engine in 2006. It was a 3.5 L V6 engine producing 273 horsepower. The Toyota Harrier also presented improved graphics and voice control with an updated navigation system. The model years from 2007-2009 remained unchanged. | |||
